PADI Navigation Course
Build confidence underwater and never miss your way back to the boat again. The PADI Underwater Navigator Specialty teaches you how to use natural references and compass skills to navigate like a pro — no matter the conditions.

This course is ideal for certified divers who want to improve their spatial awareness and confidently lead dives without relying on others. After completing the PADI eLearning portion online, you’ll join your instructor at East Cape Explorers for three open water dives. Each dive builds your skills — from using a compass underwater and identifying natural navigation cues to estimating distance and executing complex navigation patterns. You’ll work in small groups or privately with your instructor, ensuring focused attention and time to practice at your own pace. The course can be completed in one or two days depending on your availability and conditions.
Course Requirements / Prerequisites
- Must be certified as a PADI Open Water Diver (or equivalent)
- Minimum age: 10 years old
- Must complete PADI eLearning before dives
- Comfortable diving in open water
- 3 open water dives required for certification
Course Schedule:
Day 1: Navigation dives 1 and 2 from 8:00 – 13:30
Day 2: Navigation dive 3 from 8:00 – 13:30
